my brother is 23 and lives with my mother. He lost his job so he collects unemployment my momma told him to just pay the cable. He didn't pay it so it's been cut off for a while. My mom got a second job at target. she confronted him %26amp; said she doesn't think it's fair that he's able to just not pay bills and it's okay with him and she had to take out loans to get her bills paid this month because she had no other choice. and that he needs to learn how to pay his bills no matter what. He got made a started throwing chairs and cussing her out. Everyone in my family found out and started talking about my mama calling her stingy and saying she's just trying to get money out of him. They started talking about how she doesn't buy my brothers food but she said their grown men now (23%26amp;20) I kind of feel bad for her but I kinda feel bad for him because he's struggling do you think my mom is being selfishFamily trouble please someone give me advice?
She's not being selfish, but the best thing she could do for your brothers is to put them out of the house. They should learn to act like adult men, stand on their own two feet....and help her out if she needs it.Family trouble please someone give me advice?
If he is not taking the necesary steps that he needs to take to do better for himself as far as getting a job or going to school then no your mom is right. But if he is trying to find another job and maybe has his own bills to pay then that's different, but throwing chairs is a sign that he is being defensive because he knows deep down inside that he isn't doing what he needs to be doing to take care of himself.
No, your mom is not being selfish. You brother has not grown up, and will not as long as your mom is paying his way. Believe me I have seen this going on for a long time with my brother. He is 46 and expects my folks to pay his way. I don't understand how anyone would think she is trying to get money out of him, when it's the exact opposite. Throwing chairs and cussing at your mom is very bizarre behavior.
They should be out on their own.
He is old enough to look after himself. Your mother should kick him out.
Absolutely not. She is teaching her boys to be men...or trying to, anyway. That aside, it doesn't matter if she is being selfish or not. It isn't your place or that of anyone in your family to judge her. For better or worse, she is just being the best mom she knows how to be. You are a good child for caring about her. Now, be an even better one by supporting her, emotionally. What your brother is doing is unacceptable and illegal. Next time he acts that way, you should call the police. Best of luck. Kerrie Wheeler, LCPC
PS (By ';child'; I mean son/daughter)
Your brother is an adult, if he wants to be treated like one, he should learn to act like one. He needs to take responsibility for himself. He is collecting unemployment so he can pay the cable bill for living with your mom. If he didn't live with her, he'd have to pay a lot more for rent and food. Your brother is being stingy. Your poor mom worked hard raising all of you, now she has to take a second job cause your brother is acting like a good for nothing idiot. Your mom loves him or she'd kick him out on his a$$. He should be grateful she is only asking him to pay the cable. He is probably costing her a lot more than what the cable bill is, just by staying with her. Electricity is not free, neither is water, paper goods, (I'm sure he uses toilet paper) and all the other household necessities that he uses. Tell your brother to grow up!!! He deserves a wake up call!
Hell no! Your mom is definately not being selfish... Those boys are GROWN MEN and they need to take care of themselves especially when their mother can't afford much at all. Those boys need to realize that their mother is not put on this earth to serve them and they need to help out where they can. Stuff these days is not cheap and I totally understand her and what she's doing. Those boys shouldnt let their mother EVEN GET A SECOND JOB! Thats rediculous... Everyday she's getting older and not younger, there's no need for her to take on extra stress and responsibilities just because her sons are being lazy and inconsiderate. Your mother does not need to put up with that and really... her sons should be the ones to LEAVE if they can't pay their own way.

Family law. Fast, free, reliable, online advice. Where can I get it?
Basically, the police and a social worker from child protective services showed up at about 9:30 p.m. They had received a ';referral'; from ';someone'; that my 8 year old nephew is not attending school. There was also mention that ';people'; or ';someone'; is smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol in the backyard and downstairs room. No one in the home drinks any type of alcohol. I believe there may be some indulgence in marijuana though I know never outside and only on rare occasion by my sister. My sister and her son currently reside in our mothers home as mom is getting on in age and doesn't get around as well as she used to. The home is neither a ';party place'; nor ';flop house';. Visitors to the home are limited to family which includes myself (50), my son (23), my sisters two older children (23 %26amp; 21), their significant others (25 %26amp; 21) %26amp; 2 of my sisters friends (approx 32 %26amp; 35). When they arrived they showed no warrant but my sister allowed them into the home. They questioned her then had her wake her son and then leave the room while they questioned him. My sisters son has untreated ADHD and is home schooled by her. The officers left and shortly afterward so did the CPS worker. My sister was told by her that she and her son were adorable and when she stated to the worker that she is not trying to hurt her son she is trying to help him the worker smiled and said that she understood. However my sister was left with instructions to contact another social worker. This was about 3 wks ago. They have played phone tag since and last week the social worker left a message that she received another referral %26amp; she wants to schedule an appointment to come to the home and speak with her and her son. My sister is afraid if they test her urine they will find her positive for the marijuana and may remove her son from her custody. Can they do this? Why wasn't the initial visit by the CPS worker sufficient to close this case? Apparently they were not concerned as the boy was not taken into custody? What should/can she do? If they return to the home and she just doesn't answer the door will they force entry into the home if they have a warrant? Would they be able to obtain a warrant for this? Will her avoidance cause them to obtain a warrant and again would they be able to for this? How quickly can theFamily law. Fast, free, reliable, online advice. Where can I get it?
First of all, Social Workers do not have the authority or means to test a persons urine.
They will not force entry into the home but your Sister should cooperate with CPS and it will make things easier on her.
Yes, they CAN go through Family Court and obtain a warrant within hours.
Cases remain open for 90 days or until CPS complete their investigation and make a determination on the information received.
Perhaps since your nephew is not enrolled in the school system, they are concerned and making reports.
You Sister need to have documentation of her home schooling her Son and should also be taking him for ADHD treatment by a Doctor or a medical provider.
That would be their concerns.
And if she is smoking pot, she should stop.
She should also make a concerted effort to contact the worker(s) ASAP.
They will remove a child from the home only if the child is in imminent danger. Apparently, there were no signs of that.

Family straining on our relationship..tips/advice?
Okay so I am 17, almost 18, I plan on moving out in June, but for now I am stuck under my parents roof, Well I have to babysit my sister and brother who are 13 and 12. I babysit them like once a week, and its aggravating.
I think that they are old enough to stay home alone for the evening, but my mother doesnt think they are (yet I was babysitting at that age!)
My brother does nothing but sit on the computer, its a constant battle to get things done with him. So my boyfriend has been over alot more and he gets them to listen, but now my mother is pissed at my boyfriend for telling him what to do, my mom has not said anything to me but to my older sister about it.(my older sis doesnt live at home) .
I cant take it..I hate being home, because my parents dont do anything about it..I have talked to my mom about it once and it changed for about a week...
My boyfriend and I have fought over this several times because I have given up on it, and he thinks that I will just give up and do the same thing to our kids..I have given up trying to discipline them, what should I do?
Oh and now that I told him what my sister said he said he wont come over my house when I am babysitting then..Ugh!!Family straining on our relationship..tips/advice?
Tell your mom that until she learns to deal with how your boyfriend CONTROLS your brother, that you wont babysit.
%26amp; dont do it.
Tell her you won't do it anymore,
At first I was on your mothers side, cause its only once a week. But if your mom was mad at your boyfriend because he tells your brother what to do, then thats just stupid. If you guys are babysitting, then YOU guys are in control. your brother %26amp; mother should suck it up.Family straining on our relationship..tips/advice?

well honestly babe, im the youngest of my sisters, and im 18 and i get where you're coming from COMPLETELY. I just want to be treated like an adult for gods sake u know? but my parents think im this little girl whos absolutely clueless about everything. Im not. infact im very mature and know alot more than they do but they're just too stubborn to realise that their youngest is finally all grown up.That might be the deal (sort of) with your parents.they are unwilling to recognize the fact that you are basically an adult. so, what you need to do is, have that talk with your parents again, and say whatever you held back on saying last time. If they don't listen and things go back to being the same in a week, have that conversation again. Just don't blow up and make a scene and start fighting with your parents. They'll appreciate the fact that you are taking time to have a conversation with them. Show them that you really are an adult. As for your little brother and sister, dont give up on them. The only reason they listen to your boyfriend and not you is because they see him as an authority figure. So maybe you might need to work on how you come across when you babysit. Are you passive about things? Or do you decipline too harshly? Try talking to them more. have a conversation so they see you as a friend and less like their older sister being a prick. and just let them know whats up u know? well i hope this helps..and only a little more time b4 ur 18 and get to move out! lucky girl..wish i culd do that...
Suck it up til your 18. My neice is 14 and she always has to babysit her lil brothers and they are aweful and if she tries to disipline them SHE is the one to get in trouble. I feel bad for her, and I can see how you feel. Tell him its not your fault that theres nothing you can really do about it. Ya never know, he may have family issues that You will have to try to deal with later and he will want you around.
tell your mother that SHE is the mother not you and it should be HER raising them not YOU and since they WONT listen to you and only your boyfriend tell her that if she wants it any other way she'll grow up mature and take on the responsibility of her own children. if my mom done that i'd threaten to cease communication commencing on the day i moved out until she grew up a little. (i'm 20 now and moved out/married when i was 17)
my mother used to do the same thing with my sister.. but i told her i was tired of it and she had a choice. she could either be fair.. responsible.. and start raising her own kids rather than having one of her kids raise her other kids.. or she could risk losing her kid until she was straightened up.

Family court lawyer out there? Need advice DESPERATELY!!?
In desperate need of help!!! My husband and I just got a call from my stepson (my husbands son)’ s school. Apparently our son’s “birth” mother went to the school and allowed him to get signed out of high school so that he can go to night school. We went to see the principal this morning and he let him back into the school. He is failing and played hooky for 24 days. We now have to go to hearing through the board of Ed to find out if he will be left back. We will do what we have to do but long story short. Our child’s birth mother had no right to sign him out of school. Our son’s primary residence is with us not her!! Legally what can we do? My husband is so upset. We want to call her and tell her we will no longer be sending the kids to see her on Wednesdays any longer. If we do this, is that considered kidnapping? Legally we don’t want to get in any trouble but we have had enough! What would happen if we refuse her the visitations?
Thank you so much for any help and advice!!!Family court lawyer out there? Need advice DESPERATELY!!?
Ok, First I completely agree with you that she had no right to sign him out school like that, but, and I know you don't want to hear this, as his birth mother, the law says she has every right to do that if she so chooses provided you and she have joint or shared custody of him.
As for not wanting to send your kids to see her on Wednesday's anymore, you have every right to do that, however, if you choose to do so, she will have the right to take you to court and sue you for custody and or visitation rights with any children that are biologically hers.
(NOTE: If they are not biologically her children and/or she has never been granted any form of legal custody of them, then she has no legal claim to them and there is nothing she can do )
If they are biologically hers, then she does have legal claim to them and you will have to officially inform her that your children will no longer be visiting her and if she wants to see them you will have to meet in court.
Your husband will also need to sue her for full custody if he wishes to keep her children away from her, if they are her biological children and she wants to be in their lives, she has every right to be and I'm sure she'll fight you in court for either full or joint custody.
I suggest, if you can afford it you hire a lawyer to help you get through all of this. Make sure you have a judge certified copy of the custody agreement of all involved children as well.
I also strongly suggest you think long and hard before you do anything, as your stepson may react very badly if you tell him you don't want him to see his mother.
Maybe you and she and your husband could all sit down to dinner and try and sort through everything, and establish some boundaries and some ground rules in order to avoid the messiness of a custody battle.
Once the children are over 18 it will be their decision as to whether or not they want her in their life.
I wish you the best of luck

I'm not a lawyer, but I work for 1 and have 1 in the family.
if you have a copy of the parenting plan showing you are the residential parent, get it certified by the court and take it with you to the hearing. if you don't have a copy, go to the courthouse and get a certified copy.
i don't know if withholding Wed. visitation would be considered kidnapping, but she could file a Motion For Contempt and you'll have to go to court and show good cause as to why you did this (in my opinion you have a great cause, but again, i'm not a lawyer).
my suggestion would be to get a lawyer, perhaps your husband's divorce lawyer?
It all really depends on what the custody orders look like. Is there even any custody orders?? Who has custody of the boy?? Is it equal custody or does one have more over the other??

Family issue. basically i want your advice and opinion?
there is a certain type of cat breed i want for my birthday(i would even pay for some of it). Do you think that just because my dad's girlfriend doesn't like that cat breed he wont ge ME that kind.
by the way do you think its cute. she thinks its ugly just because it has blue eyes and a little bit of a flat face. she also thinks that tabby cats and ones like that are what cats SHOULD look like.

I think they have sweet faces...I'm a maine coon cat gal myself....
..and this is YOUR birthday gift, Hon, you Dad's gf should have no say in what your kitty looks like.....
Since when are blue eyes ugly? most of my family has blue eyes (mine are gray).....nevr mind and ask for your ragdoll....Happy B.D.Family issue. basically i want your advice and opinion?
Is your dad definately getting you a cat for your birthday? I'm assuming that the girlfriend's objection to the type of cat you pictured (so cute) has only to do with asthetics, and isn't due to any sort of allergy. If that is the case then I would hope that as a gift to you your dad would chose the type of cat you want.
Does the girlfriend live with you? You might try to find out what her exact objections to the cat are. Perhaps she thinks that the longer hair on this breed will cause an abundance of unwanted cat hair. If her objections do extend beyond ';it's ugly'; then you'll be able to come up with solutions to the problems she may think there will be (ie: I know she is concerned about extra cat hair because of the length of the coat, I would be willing to pay for a cat brush/comb and commit to brushing the cat daily).
Best of luck! I hope you get the cat you want for your birthday.
it depends. Why does she dislike the breed? Is it soly based on looks or is something about the breeds personality? What kind of cat is it? I saw that it says ragdoll in the url, but being a color point it probably has some siamese in it? Is it a himalayan? If it is a ragdoll, they are very needy cats and while they are friendly and loving, if you don't have a lot of time to spend with the cat it wouldn't be a good match. If it's a himalayan, I'm not positive, but I think it is related to siamese. Siamese cats (while beautiful), have aggressive, territorial personalities. I know wouldn't have one! If your dad's girlfriend just thinks the cat is ugly, I doubt it will have a lot of bearing on the decision, but if she has reason to believe that the cat won't be a good match for your family, he very well could listen to her advice.
Maybe you need to do some research in to the breed - especially about their temperament. I know this breed well, and they are extremely mellow and loving - not like most other cats who can be aloof and nasty. When you find good information, print it and leave it somewhere your Dad can read it. Make sure you let your Dad know you really want THIS breed and that you would gladly help with the cost - then sign it with a bunch of x and o and a big ';I Love You'; - - I know all I ever had to do with my Dad was butter him up and I got whatever I wanted...... it is worth a try!
Tell your dad that the cat will be your responsibility, not hers and that she should have no say until she has the title step mother. She is not your parent and she should have no say.
That's the cutest cat I've ever seen. Tell your dad how much it means to you and show him a picture, I can't believe he won't fall in love with it by just looking at the picture.
It is so cute. However I think it is possible you want it because she don't or she don't want it because you do...
Am I right...
the cat is cute! and if you dad really loves you and care about what you want he will gets you the cat!
She's just jealous. Those cats are beautiful. Get it for yourself, then no one can *****.
they are a good breed. cats live a long time so make sure you get what you want
i don't think it just the gf.
You do realize these cats like many other were the result of several breeds to get to this point?
One of the original cats used here was the original Persian. And cats with this type of fur shed heavily and all over. You will need to vacuum the house a couple of times a week and if you have floor length curtains it's a b**ch, same with all the furniture.
If this is not done one can develope an allergy. I am a cat person and have had these breeds all my life, no one in the family had alergies, when i left home my parents kept the cat i owned for 9yrs, my mother developed an allergy to cats a yr later, she took shots till the cat died. She took my cat in 3 yrs ago, this one is siamese. I always hated them, but got attached to this underaged kitten. My mother is fine with this one, as it hasn't got as much fur as the Persian breeds.
Could be a lot of other reasons and it is very common for ppl to develope alergies to certain cats or dogs and not others. And are you mature enough to take on the responsibility of cleaning the house for yrs to come, there more to a cat than just feeding and litter. The vet bills can be very high as well, because these animals are interbred a lot therefor often develope problems especially as they get older. Plus yearly shots.lipstick gloss
by the way do you think its cute. she thinks its ugly just because it has blue eyes and a little bit of a flat face. she also thinks that tabby cats and ones like that are what cats SHOULD look like.

Plus yearly shots.
Advice for a black sheep of the family?
Most other people in my family have taken totally traditional paths through life...marriage, career, house in the burbs, two kids, dog, picket fence etc. Then there's me...traveled around the world after college for a year, then lived and worked overseas for two years, then back ';home'; for a year to work, now I'm leaving in a month to work overseas again for two years. Probably will keep this up for a while. This wanderlust just won't go away! I become too bored staying in one place for more than a couple years. I have 37 stamps in my passport (and counting).
I have little desire to become ';normal'; and live a traditional life. I sometimes wonder why I was wired so differently from my siblings. I also sometimes wonder how we come from the same set of parents, we are so different.
I have a desire to travel, see the world, and experience different cultures. Any advice out there for someone who's the black sheep of the family? Thanks!Advice for a black sheep of the family?
I wouldn’t say you are the black sheep of the family. Sheep follow the heard and the black sheep follow the heard just as much. Sounds like you’ve stepped out and found the direction you want to go.
All I can say is keep it up and enjoy it !!! Most people follow the “normal” life style because it’s the safe thing to do and there is no uncertainly and fears in it. I love where I’ve ended up of the beaten path even though I’m married and we have a house and kids I’m far from living the normal life the fun part of getting of the beaten path is your no longer following it your creating it !Advice for a black sheep of the family?
You're not a black sheep of your family. You just want to live differently than the rest of your family. Just keep in close contact with your family along the way. Maybe some of them will visit you once in a while to see what you love.
My Websters says a black sheep is a person who is worthless despite good background. You're not that.
Feel good about it all. It's the way it is supposed to be.
I don't think you need any advice. You sound like you know what you want and you're going for it!
You're not the ';Black Sheep'; of the family. Just the interesting one. Just live life until you're ready to conform with the rest of the family.
stay in 1 spot and go on lots of vacations
Go for what you want! Live the life you want to---not the 'proper' life that your family has seemed to pick out. They enjoy it, it's just not for you. Sounds like you have fun in life, not that they don't. You just have different interests.

Our family (7 adults) are planning a trip to Europe. Need advice.?
Is there a bed and breakfast in Munich around 18 to 22 Euro per person or less that is around the Marienplatz or main train station? With 7 people booking in at one time, somebody must want our business for that price. Our family (7 adults) are planning a trip to Europe. Need advice.?
You'd be lucky to get coffee and a sandwich for 鈧?8!Our family (7 adults) are planning a trip to Europe. Need advice.?
You're looking at the hostel level (if that) for that price. Try AO Hostels and ';Bed %26amp; Brezn'; , both within walking distance of the main train station.
There is also a YMCA nearby you could consider.
The period around the Oktoberfest times are already pretty much booked out for hotels and hostels.
All the best! Happy journey!!
