My girlfriend and I have an 18 month old baby. We have about 2 years to go before either of us has a degree to get a decent job. We're living in my Dad's basement, eeking our way through life. We don't have a drop in the bucket, we need to decide if we should press on with school and live poorly for the next 2 years, or have one of us drop out and work so we can atleast have an apartment, food on the table, etc. Social service benefits where i'm from are taking about 1-2 years for qualified people to get assistance. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFULWhat advice is there for family / financial trouble?
I really don't know exactly what ot tell you, but I wouldn't lay the education aside. Once you have it it will be a major asset in both your lives and your baby.
You both could do odd jobs. That is what my daughter and her hubby did. She baby sat and he did yard work and the like for people on his spare time and both were in college full time.
There should be some kind of daycare programs that you could sign up for . You could then do it on the shift you aren't in school. The handy man thing could be done on weekends or other times that you are not in school.
It will be hard, but not impossible.
There are also telemarketing jobs all over and they usually work with your school schedules and a lot of them have a second shift. What advice is there for family / financial trouble?
It really depends what fields you are getting your degree in and if there are really jobs out there for you. Just because you have a degree it does not mean you will get a good paying job.
Is there a program at your school that will let you work in your field while you earn your degree?
Make sure you are using two kinds of birth control properly so no more little ';accidents'; pop up.
