Hi
I've been so obsessed with the idea of having a baby, I've read up on everything there is to know! I'm closing in on 27 and feel like its getting to a stage in my life that I am emotionally ready for a baby. My partner was concerned about the financial implications of having a child and wanted to wait for a better time. He surprised me last night saying he is tired of waiting and wants to try.
I was so happy but then the careful side of me is also scared of how we will cope. We live in the UK but our family are in South Africa so we will be on our own but I know of all these people who are worse of than us and they seem to make it. I feel so confused! Any advice?Advice on starting a family?
I wouldn't worry or wait...its precious to have a family of own...you should be happy and enjoy it and take that challenge...life will lead you...my family is not here neither, they're overseas, but whats important is my hubby and I are going thru our own experience with the baby, financially challenging for us to make it, so you can too!!!Advice on starting a family?
You can make it work if you want it to -that's the bottom line :] You're right, many people have children in poorer circumstances [mine being one of them!] and make it through just fine with support and determination. You and your partner have each other - that's fantastic and going to be the main thing throughout TTC. I wish you the best of luck! You seem to be in a good place to start your family. Keep us updated!
You will always cope! you have 10mths to work it out and if it means having cheaper meals at night you do it... in all honesty if we all waited till we could afford it then the worlds population would die out!
Stress less and enjoy the beggining of the best years of your life!
Once you have a kid, you'll make it no matter how hard it is. I got pregnant when I was 19, my boyfriend was the only one working. Money was tight, but we pulled through. Now we're married, I'm 21 and he's 22, he's got a great job supporting us so that i can finish getting my degree and get a good job as well. While it's always good to be financially ready, i don't think anyone ever feels like they have enough money to support a child. But you'll find a way. You'll learn that diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, and baby toys comes before anything else. And if you do have to cut back on something, it'll probably be on something you don't truly need.
