get a SIN card, apply for the health card, and find a home or an apartment ASAP. get the kids settled into schools, and


then start looking for a job.





I agree with the above answer - never ever visit USA. They are brutal in their border crossings - especially if you are not yet a canadian citizen.As a new Canadian, what advice do you have for new families who have just arrived in Canada?
Don't go to USA, when you cross that Niagara Border they interrogate you and sometimes for hours.
HI. i migrated to Canada from the US. It was still a shock. I would go to www.canada.gc.ca and see the cultural info for holidays, laws see www.canlii.org i will be glad to help you. no one wanted to help me. there are so called settlment org but they are staffed by new immigrants who knew less than me!





knowing the laws helped me a lot.





my husband is canadian but that did not help much. i also learned that in canada they use the libraries online information portals to inform people of local service resources.

Buy a snowmobile, install a fridge in your garage and stock it with Molson. Ok eh....you are Canadian.
