Need a little advice on what my family should do at Disney World.?

My daughter has her Make-A-Wish to Disney World this spring (April or May). We have 5 family members going, kids ages 7,8, and 9. We will be there for a week and we need to go with some loose plans. Neither my husband or I have gone in about 10 years, so we have no idea what to do. So here is my questions. What's good and what's not good to do, keeping the kids in mind, because it is for them? Is there anything outside of Disney World that we should do? We are very open to just about anything. Any advice would be wonderful.Need a little advice on what my family should do at Disney World.?
A lot has changed in 10 years, so when you get there, don't be overwhelmed! It's a lot of fun! Before I even give you any other suggestions, listen to this one! Use your park ticket to get a Fast Pass for the rides. It does not cost anything extra. All you do is go to a kiosk outside of the ride, slide your ticket in, and it gives you a small piece of paper telling you when to come back to the ride. You can get on it with little or no wait. It holds your place in line while you can go and enjoy other things in the park. It is available at all 4 themeparks, and you can use it anytime after the start time printed on the ticket. A lot of people don't realize they can do this, and feel overwhelmed by the lines, and end up leaving the park.

Definitely go to Magic Kingdom. Some rides they might enjoy are the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Space Mountain, or Pirates of the Caribbean. but pretty much every ride at Magic Kingdom is geard towards children.

All of the other parks are a lot of fun, and I suggest going to all of them. There's always rides for the kids. If you're curious about one, ask a cast member before you go on.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours. Pick up a times guide at the hotel to find out which days which parks open up 1 hour early, and stay open 3 hours late, only for WDW guests! The lines are much shorter, and the park is not as crowded.

Also, try a Character Dining Experience. You can do a breakfast, or a dinner. Some good places are:

-Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort

-The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom

-The Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom

-Cape May at the Beach Club Resort

There are more, and you can ask the Cast Members at the concierge desk about them as well as make reservations.

The Sci-Fi Dine in Theater (no characters) is fun as well, where you sit in cars and dine while watching old movie reels on a big screen...just like being at the drive-ins!

If your children enjoy scavenger hunts, you can book one in the Magic Kingdom for the Disney's Family Magic Tour. It is 2 1/2 hours long, and 27 dollars/person. You should book this in advance by calling (407) WDW-TOUR. There are other tours you can look into as well.

There are so many things you can do in WDW and the Orlando area, I can't list all of them here! SeaWorld and Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure are fun as well. If you want to know more about anything, email me at gorgalonius@yahoo.com, let me know specifically what you're interested in, and I'll be happy to help!Need a little advice on what my family should do at Disney World.?
You're very welcome! Have a magical trip!

If you are staying 'on campus' at WDW, the only reason to leave (to my mind) is to eat or shop at more reasonably priced venues like Cracker Barrel, Lone Star, and K-Mart.

If you want a ';non-Disney'; day to break things up, I suggest Lake Kissimmee State Park where Florida's cowboy heritage comes alive with living history demonstrations of the early Florida ';cow hunters'; in an 1876-era cow camp, open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekends and holidays. Here is a link http://www.floridastateparks.org/lakekis鈥?/a>

Make sure you bring a picnic, insect repellent, and a wide brimmed hat.

Getting back to WDW, I suggest you arrive at the theme parks super early. During the hot busy part of the day when lines are longest, return to your room for lunch and a nap or just a quiet hour by the pool. Then return to the park for Round Two. (Driving your car instead of taking WDW transportation is a good idea if you can avoid paying a second parking fee when you return.)

If you at all on a budget, think real hard about getting a room with kitchenette or making some other arrangement for ';home cooked'; meals. Food is sky high at WDW, even the non-prepared food at hotel gift/convenience shops. Your group could easily spend $75-100 a day just on soft drinks in a theme park, so think very hard about everybody carrying their own refillable water bottle.

By all means, bring a wheelchair -- that is, rent one for a week from somewhere outside of WDW and bring it to the park with you each day. It makes a great cart for all your stuff and a ';sag wagon'; for anyone with tired feet. WDW is VERY wheelchair friendly.

Don't miss seeing the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the lake shore behind The Polynesian Resort. Bring a blanket to sit on. The best photo op is a character breakfast. The Fort Wilderness complex probably has the best ';just turn the kids loose to explore'; areas.
Oh I hope you all have a great time. You should definately take the kids to disney quest in downtown disney. Thats got lots of virtual things and big games machines. It was awesome.

Animal kingdom would be great as they have the real animals. Dont forget to get the kids a first visit badge and not sure if there is anything else offered if you are on make a wish but you should definately ask for priority passes so you dont have to queue for as long.

have a wonderful break...
I would make a dining reservation for each day.

Plan some down time - don't go commando.

Top choices in each park:

Magic Kingdom: all of it!

Epcot: Soarin, Test Track

Studios: Muppets, Stunt Shows, Mermaid

Animal Kingdom: Safari, Kali River Rapids

Dining:

Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary

Princess Meal in Norway

I wish you and your family a wonderful and happy trip.
10 years huh? Well on April 22nd Animal Kingdom will be celebrating it's 10 year anniversary which the kids might like. While some new attractions and rides have come and gone in the last 10 years you probably know what the other parks are all about. Also new since then is Islands of Adventure at Universal and just opening March 1st will be Aquatica, Busch's newest themed water park across from Seaworld. No matter how your plans work out I am sure the best part will be watching the kids expressions of Disney World, take lots and lots of pictures and video. Enjoy your visit.
A lot has changed in ten years for sure. Check out Disney's official website. If you register, then go to ';my vacation'; there is a link to customize your own maps. Each map area lists all the attractions and rides for each park along with descriptions. You can add as many as you want. Ours arrived in the mail last night in this cute treasure envelope and were customized with our name and everything. My kids loved exploring the attractions on the website and then getting ';their'; maps in the mail. As far as recommendations go, all the parks are great! Disney's Hollywood Studios is more shows than rides, so I always save it for the middle day of our trip when we need a low key day. Also, I love both Disney water parks but my kids prefer Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon, hands down.
Personally I would enlist the help of LOTS of disney pros!

Just walking around and looking at everything is really magical. The tea cup ride is great, and it's a small world, is a must!!!! You and your family will love everything. Not only that, in and around your hotel there's lots to see, walking the board walk later that night, is fun. There's Seaworld, if you wanted to do that one day? There's Bush Gardens?
